Alex B. Mahler

Associate

Alex Mahler is an associate in the Chicago office of Clausen Miller P.C.  He concentrates his practice in the areas of fidelity & surety litigation and counseling insurers on coverage issues arising from mortgage industry professional liability exposures.  Mr. Mahler also has significant experience handling complex coverage litigation implicating various other professional liablity policies, including lawyer's liability, D&O, E&O and accountant’s liability.  He also is experienced in general commercial litigation and matters alleging insurer bad faith in a variety of different contexts.  Prior to the commencement of his law practice, Mr. Mahler worked as a litigation and claims consultant for a "Big 4" accounting firm and spent over eight years in claims and litigation management for a number of prominent insurers, including a position as a litigation specialist in the legal department of one of those companies.  In 1996, Mr. Mahler earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.

Mr. Mahler is a co-author of "The Decline of the So-Called Doctrine of Continuing Bad Faith," which appeared in the Winter 2008 edition of the American Bar Association’s Tort & Insurance Practice Journal.
