Susan K. Slim

Associate

Susan K. Slim is an associate in the New York and New Jersey offices of Clausen Miller P.C.  Ms. Slim handles a variety of civil and commercial litigation matters including professional liability, director & officer liability, architects & engineers, employment law, municipal defense and premises liability.  Ms. Slim also has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution methods and has resolved numerous matters through mediation and arbitration.  

Ms. Slim currently litigates cases at the state and federal levels in both New York and New Jersey.  She is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as the United States District Court, District of New Jersey.  In addition, Ms. Slim has defended employers against charges of unlawful discriminatory practices before the New York City Commission on Human Rights, the New York State Division of Human Rights and the Equal Opportunity Commission.

Ms. Slim received her Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School, where she participated in the Boston College Civil Litigation Bureau, helping indigent clients in all phases of civil litigation with a variety of legal issues, including housing, divorce and landlord/tenant disputes.  During law school, Ms. Slim also worked for the United States Department of Justice in Saint Thomas.  There, she worked with the Assistant United States Attorney in preparation of both civil and criminal trials.

At Washington & Lee University, Ms. Slim graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literature and Political Science.  Her efforts earned her the Academy of American Poet's Award, English Departmental Honors and the George E. Mahan Poetry Award.  In addition, she published an article entitled, National Endowment for the Arts v. Finley, 2 Wash. & Lee Pol. Rev. 39 (2001).

Ms. Slim speaks Arabic fluently.
