Associate

Daniel J. Peters joined Clausen Miller as an associate in 2008.  Dan practices in the area of complex commercial litigation including intellectual property, contract disputes and construction defects. In addition to commercial litigation, Dan practices in the areas of toxic torts, medical malpractice defense and professional negligence defense.

During the course of his career, Dan has assisted in litigation involving physicians, contractors, sole proprietorships, hospitals, closely held corporations and Fortune 500 companies.  His involvement has included drafting and arguing summary judgment motions at the state and federal level, preparing and arguing motions in limine, defending and taking depositions of fact, party and expert witnesses and trying small claims matters to conclusion.

Dan received his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2000 where he was a finalist in the Charles Evans Hughes Moot Court Competition. He received his B.A. degree in Political Science from Michigan State University in 1993. Prior to entering the legal profession, Dan was the Marketing Manager for a marketing and public relations firm in New York.

Dan assisted in the drafting of the Business and Commercial Litigation 2007 overview published by the Illinois Institute of Legal Education (IICLE).  Dan is licensed to practice law in Illinois and the United States Court for the Northern District of Illinois and is a member of the Chicago Bar Association.
