Steven N. Novosad

Steven N. Novosad is a shareholder with Clausen Miller P.C. He grew up in the Chicago area, is married and has three children. He received his undergraduate degree from Southern Illinois University and his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School. His practice generally involves casualty loss, liability defense and insurance coverage litigation as well as arbitration and mediation. He has handled catastrophic injury cases involving construction, auto, premises liability, employer liability, products liability, coverage and related cases.
Before his legal career, Mr. Novosad worked his way through college and law school gaining a great deal of experience at a number of diverse jobs and occupations. His wide range of pre-law work experiences have given him the background needed to see and understand the underlying issues that drive liability cases in a pragmatic way.
Mr. Novosad has prepared and presented position papers and articles to insurance companies and casualty adjuster associations. These presentations and papers have included the following topics: the Illinois Wrongful Death Act, good faith settlements under the Illinois Contribution Act, issues in construction injury litigation, premises liability, liens, various aspects of complex issues in third-party practice, tort reform, insurance bad faith, additional insured endorsements, tender of defense, tort reform and other casualty insurance coverage issues.
Mr. Novosad is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Defense Research Institute, the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, the Chicago Bar Association and the Lake County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in all Illinois state courts and the Northern, Central and Southern Illinois federal district courts. His practice has involved representing clients in litigation pending in other states as well as Illinois. He also acts as an arbitrator in alternative dispute resolution matters.
