Mindy M. Medley is a partner in the Chicago office, and concentrates her practice on complex first party insurance coverage and litigation matters.

Mindy has significant experience in the analysis of insurance coverage disputes typically involving the interpretation of all risk manuscript insurance policies.  She has addressed legal issues arising out of insurance claims for property damage associated with fire, hurricanes, faulty workmanship and construction, water, mold, latent defect, theft, vandalism, and vacancy.  Mindy has analyzed these perils pursuant to the law in nearly every state in the United States, as well as countries throughout Europe.  Mindy is also experienced in evaluating and assessing legal issues involving significant and unique time element claims.  Mindy commonly works with engineers, forensic accountants, and fire safety experts necessary to the insurance claim investigation, adjustment, and coverage analysis.

Mindy is also well-versed in the defense of insurance companies, and public and private corporations.  When insurance coverage issues have progressed to litigation, Mindy has handled complicated pre-trial motion practice and discovery in Illinois, as well as in jurisdictions throughout the United States appearing pro hac vice.  Most of her insurance coverage litigation experience has included defending against allegations of significant extra-contractual damages with considerable success.

She has also defended public and private corporations in litigation arising out of personal injuries, property damage, and contractual disputes.  These cases have included claims involving negligence, strict product liability, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duty.

Mindy consistently researches and writes on new developments in property insurance and insurance coverage law.  She is the editor of the CM Report on Property Insurance, a quarterly e-report.

Mindy received her B.A. in political science and social thought and analysis from Washington University in St. Louis in 1998.  While attending Washington University, Mindy studied abroad at Oxford University where she attended New College, concentrating her studies in government and urban sociology.  In May, 2001, she graduated from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, and began her legal career at Clausen Miller P.C. one month later, in June, 2001.
