Courtney E. Murphy is a partner in the New York office of Clausen Miller P.C. Her practice areas include first-party property insurance, insurance coverage litigation, casualty liability, products liability and professional liability matters.

Ms. Murphy has had extensive trial experience in a variety of cases. In addition to her trial experience, Ms. Murphy has successfully prepared for and argued cases in New York’s Appellate Divisions. Ms. Murphy successfully argued one of the first defining cases under New York’s 1996 Omnibus Workers’ Compensation Act whereby the Appellate Division, First Department, was called upon to interpret the legislature’s definition of “grave injury” under the Act. More recently she has handled a variety of large casualty and first-party property cases. Recently, Ms. Murphy was inducted as a Fellow of The Litigation Counsel of America, an organization that is peer selected and sponsored in the attorney's chosen field of practice.

Ms. Murphy received her Bachelor of Arts from Fordham University in 1990 and graduated from The New York Law School in 1994. During law school, Ms. Murphy worked for the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York in the Major Crime Bureau. After law school, Ms. Murphy went on to practice in one of the nation’s largest law firms, defending asbestos litigation throughout the United States.

Admitted in New York and New Jersey as well as the Southern, Northern, Eastern Districts of New York, Ms. Murphy brings to Clausen Miller P.C. years of trial and appellate experience.
