Afaf S. Sulieman

Associate

Miss Sulieman is an associate with Clausen Miller’s New York office. Miss Sulieman represents physicians, physicians’ practices, hospitals, and related businesses in medical malpractice and health care law matters. She also represents physicians and pharmacists in disciplinary proceedings, and defends tort suits involving complex medical and pharmaceutical product liability claims.  Her practice also includes handling contractual and transactional matters for physicians and physicians’ practices.

Miss Sulieman was awarded her pharmacy degree, magna cum laude, from Rutgers University in New Jersey, and is a member of Rho Chi (National Pharmacy Honor Society). Miss Sulieman worked as a clinical pharmacist for more than ten years in both the hospital and industrial sectors, including Baxter International, Hackensack University Medical Center, and a Thomas Jefferson University-affiliated hospital.  Miss Sulieman served as President of the New Jersey Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (Southern Chapter), 1993-1995. Throughout her pharmacy career, she was frequently invited to lecture on medication-related topics to nurses as part of nursing continuing education programs in New Jersey. She has also contributed to seminars for pharmacists on the topic of risk avoidance and malpractice issues pertaining to pharmacy practice.

Miss Sulieman obtained her law degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2000, receiving the Corpus Juris Secundum Award for Scholastic Excellence in Property Law. She was admitted to the New York bar in 2001. Miss Sulieman was previously an associate at two general/professional liability defense firms in New York City where she represented medical professionals, pharmaceutical companies, and corporate clients in areas including medical malpractice, pharmaceutical products liability, and mass torts.
