Robert L. Reifenberg is an equity partner with Clausen Miller P.C. who concentrates his practice in the area of complex commercial litigation, professional and products liability, large-scale property losses, employment and insurance coverage litigation.
Mr. Reifenberg obtained his bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College, Winona, Minnesota, where he graduated cum laude in 1978. In 1981, he graduated first in his class from Northern Illinois University School of Law where he served as an editor of the school's law review and received the Dean's Scholarship Award. Following law school, Mr. Reifenberg served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Philip G. Reinhard of the Illinois Appellate Court.
Since joining Clausen Miller P.C. in 1985, Mr. Reifenberg has represented clients involved in commercial claims, medical negligence, mass tort, products liability, construction claims and accidents, fire and explosion losses and other complex litigation. Mr. Reifenberg has been involved in numerous high-profile cases which have attracted regional and national media attention. He has experience in defending class actions and as lead counsel in multiparty commercial cases involving supervision and coordination of teams of lawyers and support staff. He has served as lead counsel in major securities fraud litigation and in disputes arising under the Uniform Commercial Code. He has served as lead counsel in major pharmaceutical litigation involving alleged contamination of products distributed worldwide. He also serves as regional counsel to a Fortune 500 company for the defense of all claims brought within the designated geographical region. He has successfully defended clients at trial and in various forms of alternative dispute resolution in cases involving exposures well into the millions. Mr. Reifenberg is a member of the Illinois Bar and the Trial Bar for the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He has published numerous articles on diverse legal issues and is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. Mr. Reifenberg has an "AV" rating with Martindale-Hubbell indicating the highest ranking in legal ability and ethical standards as determined by his peers in the legal community.
