Joseph J. Ferrini

Joseph J. Ferrini is a senior associate in the Chicago office of Clausen Miller P.C. and is a member of the Appellate Practice Group. Mr. Ferrini joined Clausen Miller following graduation from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Joseph received his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from Loyola, finishing 3rd out of a class of over 200.
While in law school, Joseph served as a senior editor of the Loyola Law Journal and was the President of the Catholic Lawyers' Guild. He also served as an extern to Judge Michael J. Gallagher of the Illinois Appellate Court for the First District of Illinois and interned at the State's Attorney's Office.
Joseph concentrates his practice in appellate work and has litigated appeals in federal and state courts, including Illinois, Indiana, New York and New Jersey. His work has covered many of the firm's practice areas, including Coverage, Property, Business/Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury Defense and Product and Professional Liability.
In Purvis v. Oest, 614 F.3d 713 (7th Cir. 2010), a case with millions of dollars in potential exposure, Mr. Ferrini successfully obtained a reversal from the Seventh Circuit, granting judgment on appeal as to all three defendants on qualified immunity grounds.
Mr. Ferrini also has acted as appellate counsel during trial, working with trial counsel in developing motions in limine, directed verdict motions, jury instructions and assisting in the overall trial strategy to ensure both a successful trial and a properly postured appeal. Mr. Ferrini's efforts recently helped to obtain a defense verdict in favor of an infant car seat manufacturer in Cook County, Illinois.
