Martin C. Sener is a partner with Clausen Miller P.C. who concentrates his practice in litigation involving technical construction and engineering principles. An experienced trial attorney, Mr. Sener has prosecuted subrogation rights in numerous fire, aviation, structural engineering, and products liability cases involving energy generation, transmission and distribution.  Mr. Sener was the lead subrogation counsel in the MTA rail crash in Silver Spring, Maryland and he has litigated several other large/catastrophic losses involving pipeline explosions, dam collapses, and major refinery explosions - among others. He has handled cases and claims involving bridge collapses, power plant explosions and collapses, warehouse and plant fires, and turbine and generator failures.  He has obtained sizable verdicts in several large property and boiler and machinery subrogation cases. Mr. Sener has also defended subrogation cases and, therefore, has a unique perspective on the successful and cost-effective handling of such cases.

Mr. Sener graduated from Northwestern University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. He received his Juris Doctor degree from The John Marshall Law School in 1984 where he was a staff editor of the John Marshall Law Review.

Mr. Sener coauthored a chapter on eliminating electrical causation in arson cases for the Arson Prosecution and Training Manual published by the Illinois Attorney General. He has also coauthored numerous Supplements to the Property Insurance Handbook published by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Sener represents several property insurers on a national basis, handling large property coverage and subrogation matters. In addition to the cases he has tried in Illinois, he has tried cases in California, Idaho, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.  Working as national panel counsel, Mr. Sener has litigated cases in every region of the country.

A frequent lecturer on subrogation and litigation issues, Mr. Sener has presented seminars to the Loss Executives Association, the Property Loss Research Bureau, the Western Loss Association, the Boiler & Machinery Insurers Association of Chicago and the Boiler & Machinery Insurers Association of New York.

Mr. Sener is a member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois, is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and is a member of the bar of the United States Supreme Court. He is an active member of the Chicago Bar Association and American Bar Association.
