Clausen Miller's London office held a seminar on the Impact of the Carbon Emissions on Business Interruption Insurance on 14 June 2007 Clausen Miller LLP and Forensic Accountants Matson, Driscoll & Damico (MDD) hosted a seminar at 30 St Mary Axe on the impact of carbon on business interruption insurance. The seminar was a practical introduction to the relevant issues and assisted insurers in anticipating carbon in renewals later this year and in handling carbon related claims. The seminar:
1. Introduced relevant legislation including the Kyoto Protocol and the EU Emissions Trading Scheme;
2. examined how carbon may assist in mitigating losses;
3. consider ednew carbon liabilities;
4. reviewed carbon claim permutations;
5. suggested possible carbon endorsement wordings;
6. discussed carbon strategy;
7. explored other lines of business which have a carbon exposure; and
8. investigated new lines of carbon related business.
