Gummow Elected President Of The Lawyers Club Of Chicago

Susan N.K. Gummow, Partner, has been elected President of the Lawyers Club of Chicago for the 2008-2009 year. Since 1883, the Club has promoted social interaction and tolerant discussion of questions of interest among lawyers and judges in the Chicago area. Some of the Club’s early speakers have included Clarence Darrow, Governors Adlai E. Stevenson, Thompson, Walker, Kerner and Ogilive; Mayors Richard J. Daley and Richard M. Daley have both addressed the Club. In recent years, speakers who have appeared before the Club include U.S. Supreme Court Justices Alito, Stevens , O’Connor and Breyer. The Club frequently hosts prominent individuals from the Illinois state and federal judiciary; authors, reporters and experts from various fields of political and social interest.
