Charles A. Gilmartin, A Former Partner At Clausen Miller P.C., Dies At Age 88

Charles (Charlie) A. Gilmartin, a former partner of Clausen Miller P.C., died recently at the age of 88. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army WWII and a member of the American Bar Association. After the war, Charlie worked as a fidelity and surety claim adjuster for The Hartford in its Chicago office, while he attended law school. He continued to work for The Hartford after passing the bar, then went into private practice, founding his own firm with a few fellow lawyers, where he concentrated his practice in fidelity and surety law. The firm was originally located on the south side of Chicago, around 47th and Halsted, until it moved to the Insurance Exchange Building in 1969. That firm merged with Clausen Miller in 1986. Charlie continued to practice at Clausen Miller for a number of years thereafter.
Charlie was a key player in various professional organizations in the field of fidelity and surety law, and presented papers and speeches on numerous topics over the years before those groups.
The husband of (deceased) Genevieve, nee Daly, Charlie is survived by his 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
