Biography

Brian Riordan is a shareholder at Clausen Miller P.C., having joined the firm in 1996. Brian represents both foreign and domestic professional indemnity and general liability carriers and their insureds in the full range of both litigated and non-litigated matters. In addition, he handles Public Officials Liability.

He also specializes in the defense of cases involving commercial and professional liability, construction defects, including the representation of attorneys, architects, engineers, insurance and investment advisors and broker/dealers.

Brian has more than 20 years of experience defending a multitude of class actions matters from personal injuries during athletic competition, to products liabilities, to condominium associations, to property claims, to financial fraud matters among many others.

In addition, Brian also litigates the defense of personal injury, premises and products liability matters, and medical laboratory and testing facilities in all civilly litigated arenas.

Brian also has extensive experience counseling corporate clients on a wide range of matters, as well as defending all types of employment matters before the civil courts, various Human Rights Commissions and the EEOC.

His experience also includes defending municipalities and school districts in a wide array of matters including actions alleging personal injury, wrongful termination, civil rights violations, FMLA, premises liability, claims of School Board or City Council misconduct. He counsels these governmental entities on risk avoidance, management and resolution.

Brian was admitted to the Illinois and Federal Bar in 1996. He graduated from Loyola University of Chicago Law School in 1996 with a Juris Doctor degree, where he spent a term at Loyola’s Rome Center studying international law and comparative judicial systems. Brian graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1993 with a B.A., where he was student body president. Brian is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
