Biography

Dave is a shareholder with more than thirty-five years of litigation experience in state and federal courts, and a diverse practice in civil defense and labor and employment matters.

At the request of Chief Judges, Dave has been appointed Special Assistant Attorney General and Special Assistant State’s Attorney on labor matters for multiple counties.

He represents private and public sector clients with respect to labor and personnel relations, collective bargaining, litigation of employment and civil rights cases, sexual harassment, employment contracts, employment terminations, covenants not to compete, ADA and ERISA matters.

Dave has significant experience in litigation and collective bargaining involving Illinois municipalities, park districts as well as Section 1983, qualified immunity and equal protection matters for Illinois school districts. He served eight years as the Village President of one of the larger municipalities in Illinois, thirteen years on a Park District Board of Commissioners, and as panel counsel advising the Illinois Risk Management Association on proposed amendments to be submitted to the Illinois legislature.

Dave has decades of experience in construction and toxic tort litigation defense matters, including benzene, asbestos and silica actions.

He has represented clients in Federal and State courts, before the National Labor Relations Board, Illinois Human Rights Commission, and EEOC, and the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Dave graduated from DePaul University College of Law and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1987. He is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the District Court for the Central District of Illinois. He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar.

He is a Past Member of Northern District of Illinois Historical Committee, Metropolitan Mayor’s Caucus, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland Council, Intersect For Ability/Jobs 75 – Advisory Board Member, and a Writer/Columnist for Chicago Lawyer Magazine 2010-2011. He is the founder of a national award- winning theatre program.

He is a recipient of the National City Livability Award for Outstanding Achievement from the United States Conference of Mayors, which recognizes leadership in developing and implementing programs that improve the quality of life in America’s cities. He is the recipient of the 2012 Outstanding Community Leader Award from Advocate Christ Medical Center and Hope Children’s Hospital.

Dave graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism and proudly supports the Fighting Illini. He has served as a University of Illinois Alumni Advocate to the Illinois legislature. Dave was married to the love of his life Erica for 18 years and is the father of four wonderful children.
