Biography

“I handle a multitude of interdisciplinary matters in multiple jurisdictions and I am known as a creative problem solver and litigator.  It is my job to resolve problems expeditiously and in a financially responsible manner.”

Matthew is the Managing Partner of Clausen Miller’s Connecticut office and is the firm’s “go to” attorney for Connecticut matters because of his proficiency in all areas of Connecticut practice. Besides being licensed in Connecticut, Matthew is also licensed in New Jersey and New York, and has built a reputation in the New York City Tri-State Area for defending construction, engineering, building defect, personal injury, legal malpractice, professional liability, subrogation, trucking liability, and ADA/employment practices matters in state and federal courts, as well before local and national arbitration forums. The firm’s corporate and insurance clients rely upon Matthew’s “hands on knowledge” in these jurisdictions, and seek his guidance both in litigation and pre-suit matters.

Matthew is experienced in handling all aspects of construction litigation matters, whether they be contract disputes, insurance disputes, injured workers, damaged buildings or other miscellaneous construction matters.  With this construction accident experience, Matthew has also expanded his practice into defending national retailers, restaurants, business owners, trucking companies and individuals in personal injury matters.  He also spends a great of time defending lawyers, insurance brokers, real estate professionals, architects and engineers both in courts and before Connecticut and New York agencies.

His experience also includes defending municipalities, public water authorities and school districts in a wide array of matters including actions alleging personal injury, wrongful termination, civil rights violations, premises liability, busing and claims involving planning and zoning. He counsels these governmental entities on risk avoidance, management and resolution.

Matthew received his B.S. in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 1999.  In 2003, Matthew received his Juris Doctor Degree, cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he was a member of the School’s Moot Court Team.

Matthew is admitted to practice in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, and is a member of the trial bar in various federal districts in those states. Matthew is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Matthew resides in Greenwich, Connecticut with his wife, son and daughter.  Matthew is an active car club member, automobile enthusiast and amateur chef.
