Biography

Scott Ritchie has spent his entire career of 30 years as a trial attorney at Clausen Miller P.C. In those 30 years, Scott has taken cases to verdict in both jury and bench trials. More importantly, Scott has resolved the majority of his cases through successful pre-trial motion practice, judicially sponsored arbitration, privately conducted mediations or through direct settlement negotiations. Although Scott primarily works on matters dealing with construction, transportation claims and products liability defense, Scott has experience in litigating a variety of matters including claims involving wrongful death actions, premises liability, professional liability and business/commercial litigation. Scott is an AV rated lawyer, the highest rating as recognized by Martindale Hubbell and his peers. Scott has served as an arbitrator for the Cook County Mandatory Arbitration Program for over 20 years. Scott is a director of Clausen Miller and has been a shareholder in the firm for 20 years. Besides being licensed to practice in the State of Illinois, the United States District Courts of the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois, Scott is also licensed to practice in the United States District Courts of the Northern District of Indiana and the Western District of Wisconsin. Scott has also been granted temporary admission status to practice in numerous state and federal courts including Indiana, Ohio, New York and Wisconsin.

Scott received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and Marketing from Purdue University. Upon graduation from Purdue University, Scott worked for Hallmark Marketing Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri. After several promotions and transfers, Scott returned to the Chicago area to attend law school. Scott began his legal career working as a law clerk as he attended DePaul University College of Law. While at DePaul, Scott was a member of the National Moot Court Team, a member of the Moot Court Board, and selected to the Order of Barristers. Upon graduation from DePaul, Scott joined Clausen Miller as an associate and since that time has regularly conducted seminars on construction litigation, transportation litigation, products liability, premises liability and wrongful death actions for the firm and its clients. Scott is a member of the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association, Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel, DRI, and The Chicago Bar Association. Scott is also a member of the Glacier Mountaineering Society, the National Association of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Illinois Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Indiana Society of Chicago.
