Secondary Location: Stamford, CT
Thomas Hennessey is a senior associate in the New York office of Clausen Miller, P.C., and practices exclusively within the national subrogation group. Thomas holds active law licenses in the states of New York, Connecticut and North Carolina, and brings his seven years of litigation and corporate experience to the firm for the benefit of its clients.
In Thomas’s subrogation practice, he is responsible for identifying the responsible party(ies), quickly issuing notice of loss letters, reducing the risk of evidence destruction, guiding the selection of necessary experts, leading the investigation, communicating with adversaries, negotiating, mediating and/or litigating, and taking a matter to trial if necessary.
Prior to joining Clausen Miller, P.C., Thomas practiced litigation and completed several jury trials. Thomas gained a great amount of experience in evidence collection, depositions, and negotiation, in addition to what is required to try a case to jury verdict. Thomas also served as general counsel for a real estate investment company and retail/wholesale gasoline company. From his experience as general counsel, Thomas understands the cost benefit analysis for our clients to litigate or settle disputes, in addition to preserving any business relationships pertaining to the dispute.
Thomas’s prior experience in real estate investment involved multiple renovations and construction projects. Thomas brings his experience in construction to every property loss investigation and works directly with the experts to properly identify the origin and cause of the loss, and think out of the box, to properly advise our clients on the avenues for recovery.
Thomas’s passion for litigation started when he was selected to Campbell Law’s exclusive National Trial Team and had the unique opportunity to be mentored by his coach, former Chief of the Litigation Division of the Judge Advocate General Office in Washington, D.C. Thomas learned the intricacies of trial practice, cross examination, persuasion, opening and closing statements, exhibits, positioning within the courtroom, and the structure of witness questions. The foundation of Thomas’s trial training was supported by his undergraduate education at New York University where Thomas studied Speech and Interpersonal Communication. Thomas completed numerous classes in the fields of argumentation and debate, conflict management, interpersonal speech, public speaking, communication and public relations, and team building. One of Thomas’s accomplishments while at NYU was being selected as Senior Class President of Steinhardt, and delivering a speech at his graduation ceremony in Radio City Music Hall in front of 5,000 attendees.
In Thomas’s free time, he enjoys playing basketball in the city league of New York City, skiing, snowmobiling, trying new restaurants, and traveling with his wife, Jessica.
