Biography

Mitchel Torrence is a partner at Clausen Miller P.C. who is a member of the firm’s casualty defense and third-party liability coverage groups. Mitch’s varied practice provides him with unique insight which allows him to counsel insurers and their insureds throughout all stages of litigation and work with them to effectively minimize risk.

In his practice as part of the firm’s casualty defense group, Mitch regularly counsels professionals including attorneys, architects, engineers, insurance producers and investment advisors in an array of claims. Mitch also has extensive experience defending companies including utilities, healthcare companies, and logistics companies as well as governmental entities in an array of personal injury, premises liability, employment matters as well as complex contract disputes.

Additionally, as a member of the firm’s third-party liability coverage group, Mitch has experience representing insurers in a variety of coverage matters including complex environmental contamination, asbestos, and builder’s risk claims throughout all stages of litigation including trial. Mitch has also acted as coverage counsel for insurers presented with claims involving the interpretation of professional liability policies, general liability policies, and cyber-risk policies.

Mitch received his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law where he was named to the Order of the Barristers, received the CALI Award in Insurance Law, and was a member of Richmond’s Moot Court Board, Trial Advocacy Board, and Journal of Law and Technology. While in law school, Mitch joined Clausen Miller as a summer associate. Prior to attending law school, Mitch received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Seton Hall University.
